Welcome to the Fourth Grade Webquest!

Introduction: Did you know that there are 17 different types of penguins?  What do you already know about penguins? We’re going to study three types of penguins: the Adelie, the Chinstrap, and the Gentoo. In this webquest we’re going to learn as much as we can about all the penguins using the internet.

Task: 

In this webquest we’re going to learn as much as we can about all the penguins using the internet. Fill out the worksheet you have been given by your teacher and make sure to follow the directions carefully.


Process and Research:

1. Your teacher will assign you a partner. Divide up the work with your partner.

2. For questions 1-17, http://www.siec.k12.in.us/~west/proj/penguins/slide3.html  to get the answers.

3. For questions 18-20, go to http://www.siec.k12.in.us/~west/proj/penguins/species.html to get the answers. Click on each of the continents ONE at a time. Click the BACK button to return to the continents page.

Evaluation:

You will be graded according to the answers you write down and how well you follow directions. Do your best work!

Time on-task 

Student was not on-task throughout assignment. Student was using inappropriate sites or games that were not part of the web-quest. 

Student was frequently off task, and required 3-5 reminders.

Following directions 

Student did not follow the directions given by the teacher to complete the web-quest.  

Student followed some of the directions given by the teacher to complete the web-quest. Student required a lot of assistance from teacher to follow the directions. 

Student followed all directions and needed minimal assistance to complete them. 

Student followed all directions to complete the web-quest assignment without extra assistance. 

 

Completion of assignment 

The student completed less than half of the web-quest. 

The student completed 12 questions of the web-quest or less.

The student completed 11/15 or fewer questions correctly.
